Courageous—the Movie
(watch the trailer here)
Save. the. date. September 30 is opening day for this movie, and its message needs to reach as many people as possible. Please see this movie!!
Sherwood Pictures, who produced Fireproof and Facing the Giants, has come up with another powerfully impactful movie, this time focused on fatherhood and reminding men to be the husbands and fathers God has called them to be.
My hardworking hero of a husband and I saw the movie last weekend at a pre-release screening, thanks to Dayspring. I LOVED IT!! This has the potential to be a truly life-changing and culture-changing movie.
It brings home the consequences of children raised without fathers in the home, but explores so many more aspects of fatherhood, including the father who may be more common in “churched-circles”—the one who is in the home, providing for his family, faithful to his wife, maybe even trying to follow God, but distant and distracted from his children. It is clearly convincing that the time and effort it takes to be a godly father is worth it. Our children have precious, eternal souls, and parenting is not a responsibility to be taken lightly.
My husband and I agreed that the first few shots are a bit slow, but within a minute, the action picks up and never again was I disappointed in any part of this movie. In fact, I was fully engaged during the rest of the movie, with genuine laughter at the funny moments and tears streaming down my face during several emotional scenes. The characters are likeable and authentic—someone for everyone to relate to. It also has one of the best examples I’ve seen of lifestyle evangelism–sharing the gospel clearly, yet in a personal, uncomplicated way. This movie is for every father with children in the home, every future father, mothers, and girls who might someday be married to a father.
Please take a look at the trailer and consider buying tickets for opening day on September 30. For this movie to be a success, opening day needs to be huge!
